What Is A Clinical Trial?
We understand that whether or not you decide to participate in a clinical trial at any given time is a very personal decision. Sometimes it makes sense to participate if current treatments aren't working, if there are side effects from a particular treatment, or because it's clear that clinical trials are needed in order to progress new treatments and to potentially improve the quality of life for people with Crohn's Disease. However, participating in a clinical trial is not necessarily the best way forward for everyone and it is extremely important that you talk to your doctor, friends and family and learn about what it really means to be involved and what your options are, before you volunteer to participate in a clinical trial.
These leaflets, kindly provided by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, provide general information about clinical trials and clinical trial participation. Please read them carefully and ask questions about any areas you may wish to know more about before agreeing to participate in the clinical trial.
