Trial Status
In total, approximately 200 patients with active moderate to severe Crohn's Disease from hospitals throughout Europe and Israel and South Africa will be invited to participate in this study. We hope that 32 of these patients will come from the UK. The other countries participating are Belgium, France, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, South Africa and Spain.
Recruitment for the second dose group (1.0 mg Laquinimod/ Placebo) is currently ongoing. The results of the 0.5 mg dose group were analysed statistically and by an independent safety monitoring committee (made up of clinical experts who are not involved in the trial) and the study drug was found to be safe to proceed to the next level. This safety review process will be repeated before the next higher dose of Laquinimod is tested.
